The Associate Business Analyst is required to provide support to help meet SLA’s for our Customer. Positions in this function include those responsible for monitoring certain metrics and performing analysis to provide insight and root cause corrections of issues in order to help streamline billing processes, with a focus on managing A/R, reducing denials, reducing billing defects, mitigating write-offs, and effectively communicating, tracking, and documenting findings.

This role will require a candidate to be technically savvy with regards to MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Access. You will leverage your skills and have the ability to:

Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week) with our site operating Monday – Friday. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime and/or weekends or holidays.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather and document business requirements
  • Analyze and interpret business information to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for the business and clients
  • Develop and implement effective strategic business solutions through research and analysis of data and business processes planning
  • Support short and long term operational/strategic business activities through analysis
  • Develop recommended business solutions through research and analysis of data and business process and implement when appropriate
  • Collaborates with multiple Customers and Payers to help streamline processes and develop automation efficiencies
  • Communicate analysis and interpretation to appropriate audience
  • Produce, publish, and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc client and operational reports relating to the development and performance of products, processes, and technologies
  • Organizes and prioritizes day to day activities to focus on specific CPI’s and KPI’s so that SLA’s can be met
  • Coordinates and leads conference calls with Customers, Payers, IT, and other Business Associates, to articulate issues, findings, and solutions
  • Analyzes and applies denials to third party carriers in all media types
  • Assists with developing automation and reporting processes
  • Facilitates initiatives to bring in incremental cash
  • Partners across the organization and with our customers to help drive issue resolution
  • Supports Customers in multiple functional areas, such as Third-Party denials and Remittance Application/Cash Posting, while managing a large portfolio of processes for these areas
  • Utilizes automation tools to verify eligibility, claim status and/or to obtain better billing information
  • Focus on accounts receivables > 90 days, mitigating bad debt write-offs, and third-party denial rate
  • Utilizes automation tools to verify eligibility, claim status and/or to obtain better billing information
  • Creates worklist through Access database and manipulate data to analyze for trends and resolve claims for adjudication
  • Reviews and research denied claims by navigating multiple computer systems and platforms, in order to accurately capture data/information for processing
  • Works on various other projects as needed
  • Complies with departmental Business Rules and Standard Operating Procedures

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher) OR 2 years of experience with healthcare billing data and denials
  • 2 years of work experience with demonstrated ability using computer and Windows PC applications, such as Outlook, Excel, instant message, video conferencing including strong keyboard and navigation skills and ability to learn new computer programs
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Excel and Access

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Health Administration, related field
  • 1 years of QBS experience
  • 6 months of healthcare billing data and denials experience
  • 6 months of experience communicating analysis, including trends and opportunities, to clients and the business in writing and verbally
  • 6 months of experience with problem solving, including research on conflicting and/or inaccurate data
  • 6 months of experience balancing multiple priorities
  • 6 months experience executing macros and scripts
  • 1 years’ experience in A/R, Billing, and Customer Service, Insurance, or Healthcare
  • Beginner level proficiency with MS Word and PowerPoint 
  • Beginner level proficiency with SQL and Visual Basic
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Access

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $21.68 to $38.56. The salary range for Connecticut / Nevada residents is $23.94 to $42.40.
