Associate Senior Project Environmental Specialist/Team Leader

MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL LEVEL EXEMPTION REQUIREMENTS:

The Project Environmental Specialist level position is a Professional Exemption Level which requires a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or the sciences (environmental, chemistry, biology, geology) or similar degree or equivalent on-the-job experience and five years of on-the job experience in the performance of Environmental Consulting work and the primary duties are the performance of work requiring the advanced knowledge in one or more of the fields of engineering or science. 

PROFESSIONAL PRIMARY DUTY REQUIREMENTS:

Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, using judgment in making minor adaptation and modifications. Shows competence in administrative and technical practices. Some client contact with associated responsibility for client satisfaction. Carries out tasks or projects of limited duration, cost and technical complexity with limited direction of senior staff. Interprets data, performs analyses, draws conclusions, develops recommendations, and prepares completed reports for projects of varying sizes. May supervise the work and train other personnel for small and medium size projects. May assist with scope of proposals.

CAREER ADVANCEMENT:

Project Environmental Specialist position can lead to Senior Environmental Specialist position upon five to eight years of experience, professional registration and/or demonstration of capability to handle senior level responsibilities, including exceptional communication skills and exceptional job performance. A ‘winning’ (i.e. good) attitude is essential.

DUTIES:

Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Assessments, Risk Assessments, Corrective Actions Plans, Compliance Status Reports and other environmental related projects. Duties include coordination with clients, subcontractors and keeping abreast of environmental-related Governmental Regulations. May assist with the supervision of work and training of other personnel. Requires project management skills including tracking budgets and schedules of multiple projects, coordinating multiple subcontractors and sub-consultants. Must be computer proficient in Word and Excel. Must develop relationships with government agency personnel. May entail review of other Project Manager’s work or Staff level work. Any other duties as required. Continuing education in the form of seminars; in-house or out of the office training, or self-study is required.
