Overview

Project Engineer Interns provide support to the Superintendents and Project Managers by participating in the development of project estimates & associated negotiations, developing & accurately updating project schedules, submitting weekly reports to project owners, maintaining communications with all members of the construction team including the owner & its representatives, the inspection team, subcontractors & any other stakeholders involved, to closing out the project when complete.

Responsibilities

• Participates in the development of the project estimate & associated negotiations

• Works with the safety department to develop a site-specific safety plan
• Works with Superintendents to obtain & setup the required yard & office equipment
• Develops & accurately update the project schedule
• Submits weekly reports to the owner containing project status, schedule update, safety report, two-week look ahead, outstanding issues, & pending change orders
• Maintains communications with all members of the construction team including the owner & its representatives, the inspection team, subcontractors & any other stakeholders involved
• Forecasts project cost to complete & present findings to executives monthly
• Determines & track change order conditions & submit to owner for approval & billing
• Prepares a set of red line as-built drawings for the owner’s archive

• Assists with closeout project tasks when complete
• Other related duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management degree program or equivalent

• Strong Desire to Learn
• Collaborative and Team Player
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to effectively manage time to meet deadlines
• Knowledgeable in MS Office and Excel

Physical Requirements

• Work is performed at project sites and in an office and/or trailer locations
• Work may be performed most outdoors in weather conditions that vary from below freezing temperatures to heat above 90 degrees, in wet and dry conditions and in rural areas. Some exposure to odors, gases, dust, and dirt may occur. The noise level in the work environment may range from moderate to loud.
• Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay- $ 25 - $25 /Hourly *Depending on years of service

Our projects are regulated by federal and state laws which require all employees to successfully pass criminal background checks, MVR, and drug tests (post-employment and random testing).
