PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the Intake Specialist position is to ensure that all CHNY Youth's immediate needs are lovingly met. In addition, the incumbent of this role will aid in creating a sense of community amongst youth and staff as the primary point of contact to welcome Youth into the CHNY environment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Responsibilities to include but not limited to the following)
Cultivate a welcoming and loving environment while maintaining a high level of customer service
Maintain consistent and up-to-date knowledge of CHNY daily census and calculate census reports
Greet youth in a friendly and welcoming manner
Ensure newly intake candidates meet the qualifications to be accepted into the CHNY community
Verify the identity of all newly intake youth
Ensure that all youth who are re-intake have successfully completed all requirements to be considered for re-intake
Guide youth through orientation to ensure a successful transition to the CHNY environment
Ensure youth are aware of all 72 hour requirements to maintain residency at CHNY
Conduct intake assessment and document all findings within ETO
Escort youth to the care of their assigned floor and act as a point of contact as the youth becomes familiar with CHNY
Issue and update the welcoming packet as needed
Refer youth to alternative resources when necessary and create / leverage community resources
Handle high call volumes and answer inquiries regarding youths within our programs and services offered
Ensure all documents of re-intake youth are accessible and up to date
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Education & Experience
At least one (1) year of work with at-risk youth and knowledge of Covenant House services
High School Diploma required and/or BS/BA preferred.
Knowledge/Skills
Bilingual is preferred
Valid drivers license is a plus
Schedule: 9:00 pm -5:00 am
Five (5) days per week, including a weekend day (split weekend) and holidays.
Salary $17.79
Compensation
Covenant House New York offers a rich package of benefits including but not limited to full medical, vision, dental, life, and short and long-term disability insurance and other fringe benefits. Eligibility for medical benefits begins on the date of hire. PTO includes 3 weeks of vacation in the first year, 10 holidays, 13 sick days, 5 personal days, and birthday days off. Benefits include a 403b with employer contribution after 12 months. There are also multiple additional optional benefits (including additional life, disability, accident, and cancer insurance) available at significantly reduced rates. "CH is a vaccinated employer.
