Umyuaq Technology is looking for a qualified Contract specialist to join our Tyndall Air Force Base team in Panama City, Florida. The successful candidate will join a team of diverse disciplines supporting rebuild efforts following the 2018 Hurricane Michael devastation. Contract Specialist Skills: Understanding of contract language – contract specialists have an intimate knowledge of contract language and contract style guides Negotiation skills – contract specialists negotiate both in-person and through written communication with clients; they understand where to stand their ground while keeping both the company and client's best interests in mind simultaneously Writing and editing skills – contract specialists write contracts clearly and concisely, editing for clarity, as needed. Relationship management – managing relationships with upper management, clients, and vendors is an essential skill, as well as managing conflict between these parties Interpersonal communication skills – contract specialists work directly with a variety of people negotiating complex contracts, which requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal Specific day-to-day tasks include: Act as business partners to the Program Managers in their agencies Assist in planning for and acquiring the goods and services needed so that agencies can accomplish their mission Notify individuals or offices of decisions, problems, or further actions needed Explain or justify decisions, conclusions, findings, or recommendations Make improvements, solve problems, or take corrective action when problems arise Negotiate contracts for services or supplies Negotiate with individuals or organizations to resolve conflicts, disputes, or grievances Acquire and maintain a working knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures Interpret and apply laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures to specific issues Implement new or revised laws, regulations, policies, standards, or procedures Monitor contracts (includes administering, extending, modifying, or terminating contracts) Collaborate with others or work on teams Purchase or contract for property, services, supplies, equipment, or other items Solicit proposals or bids for contracts or property Use computer systems or applications to access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve, or manipulate data, files, or other information. Excellent analytical skills are crucial to the effectiveness of contract specialists. Education and Training: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Law or related Word processing tools (Word, Pages, Google Docs) Contract management software (Agiloft, Updraft, Concord) Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and PowerPoint) Project management software (Asana, Basecamp) A DAWIA, APDP, or FAC-C level II (Federal Acquisition Certification in Contracting Certification) in Contracting Minimum 5-year experience as a contracting specialist Experience with CONIT, the contract writing system Secret Level Security Clearance U.S. Citizenship required.
