What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director, People Operations - Remote position at Ultra Mobile?
ULTRA MOBILE is seeking a talented Director, People Operations to join the Human Resources Team! Individual reports to SVP, People Operations. Role is remote - must reside in the United States and be willing to work PST hours.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Director, People Operations partners directly with HR leadership to improve all functions of human resources: Recruitment, Learning & Development, Risk Mitigation/Compliance, Employee Engagement, Corporate Communications, Career Development, Performance Management, Total Rewards,Safety, Workers Compensation, Food & Beverage with some involvement in Facilities Operations.
The position reports directly to the SVP, People.
Your usual day of awesomeness includes:
Risk Mitigation & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all employment, benefits, insurance, safety, and other laws, regulations, and requirements.
- Maintains knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management.
- Conduct risk assessments to identify where the organization has biggest opportunities for potential risk and litigation. Implements practices and updated procedures based on findings of assessment.
- Partner with HR leadership to implement and execute.
- Partner with Employee Relations team and Counsel on all employee grievances and investigations.
- Partner with Facilities team on all policies related to employee safety.
- Partner with SVP, People on compliance requirements for post merger requirements.
Post Merger Initiatives
Partner and assist with HR Leadership team to:
- Transition all HR systems: HRIS, LMS, ATS, Shareworks, etc by end of December 2024.
- Be part of the project team related to Performance Management, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, Culture, etc to drive internal success.
Business Continuity
- Partner with Director, Employee Experience to outline business continuity plans for key players in the organization.
- Include bench strength and succession planning.
- Identify trainings needs.
Learning & Development
- Ensure 100% compliance and regulated trainings
- Harassment Prevention for all employees
- Supervisor Harassment Prevention for all People Managers.
- NDA / Confidentiality / ITSecurity
- Policies and Procedures - predominately coming from our Employee Handbook.

Employee Engagement & Corporate Communication
- Provide strategy and leadership on how Company achieves Destination Employer status.
- Co design and provide representation in Employee Action Committee (EAC) surveys.
- Own corporate communications calendar which includes all communications related to regulatory compliance and requirements, benefits, employee engagement, DEI and Town Hall meetings.
Performance Management & Career Development
- Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management.
- Provide a framework for performance philosophy and define what stellar performance looks like. Create competency-based performance levels along with training to support efforts.
- Partner with Manager, Employee Experience to create career paths and succession planning based on department and titles.
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
WHAT YOU BRING
- 10 years in Human Resources, preferably in a startup environment and privately owned.
- 10 years in management experience and managing HR department.
- 5 years in high growth environment with expertise in high volume recruitment and onboarding/training & development.

In support of the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, the range of starting pay for this role is $160,000 - $175,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, education, certifications, responsibility, and geographic location. We also offer a variety of benefits including health, disability insurance, 401 (k), flexible spending accounts, EAP, education reimbursement, parental leave, unlimited vacation, bonuses, and company paid holidays.
