Special Education Teacher

Copper Hills Youth Center, located in West Jordan, UT is a private residential treatment center for adolescents 12-17 years of age. We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes. At Copper Hills Youth Center, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. Our accredited private school allows students to continue their education while receiving treatment. 

We are seeking a full time collaborative and experienced full time Social Studies Teacher who will:

• Teach five academic classes per day. Preferred subjects of expertise are math and english.
• Be part of an innovative teaching team that embraces hands on learning, cooperative learning and teacher collaboration.
• Have an average class size of students is 8-12 students.
• Have an average yearly caseload for IEP’s of approximately 12-14.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Must have a current teaching license 

Prior experience working with students with behavioral health challenges within a school setting is highly desirable. 

Must be able communicate with all levels of staff and outside stakeholders in a positive manner via written, telephone, email and other methods.

Must be proficient is use of computers.

Must be at least 21 years of age
