Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is seeking a dynamic and talented Registered Nurse -Full-Time- Nights- 11pm-7am- Intake Department.

The A&R Nurse provides telephonic and in person risk assessment and crisis intervention, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients, coordinates the referral and intake process, determines appropriate level of care, facilitates the admission process and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients and unit staff.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Identifies presenting problems and needs of callers, scheduling a face to face clinical assessment when indicated.
  • Accurately determines caller’s appropriateness for Brentwood services.
  • Facilitates appropriate callers’ access to optimal level of care within the Brentwood system.
    Refer callers who are not appropriate for Brentwood’s services to other optimal services provider as necessary, effectively matching callers’ needs and resources with available services.
  • Bonds and identifies problems thoroughly within a short period of time.
  • Is consistently successful in scheduling face-to-face assessments.
  • Utilizes appropriate clinical forms during assessment
  • Develops sound knowledge of applicable criteria
  • Provides a comfortable, caring approach to client.
  • Conducts thorough and concise assessments within 45 minutes; completes admission within 1 ½ to 2 hours
  • Makes sound final dispositions with clients and seeks advice from other clinical staff as indicated.
  • Obtains and documents admission diagnosis from attending doctor or designee in a timely manner.
  • Documentation review shows that forms, notes, and other applicable written information have been completed promptly and accurately.
  • Patient admissions, transfers, and unusual occurrences are promptly, clearly, and correctly communicated to all necessary personnel.
  • Effectively assesses unusual, complex or otherwise difficult cases.
  • Seeks opportunities on a regular basis for further education to continually develop clinical/assessment skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent written communication skills, resulting in documentation that is thorough and concise.
  • Forms are neat and legible, including on call referral, cobra, and call logs and other forms 90% of the time.
  • Fills out call referral form, cobra log, and call logs completely.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Requirements:

Preferred: 1 year of prior intake, assessment, admission and crisis intervention experience with a psychiatric mental health population, preferably in a crisis and/or inpatient setting.

Minimum: Associates or Bachelors Degree in Nursing and Currently licensed to practice by the Mississippi State Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse.
