UHS is Hiring a Residential Treatment Specialist Near FOREST PARK, IL

Responsibilities

The Mental Health Counselor is a member of the interdisciplinary team who assists in total client care through implementation of appropriate therapeutic approaches and related nursing functions within the therapeutic environment. The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for carrying out assigned functions according to the philosophy, goals and objectives of the hospital and unit program.

  1. Facilitates a therapeutic and safe milieu by appropriate interaction with clients, co-facilitating groups, and structuring down time.
  2. Assumes responsibility for completing assigned duties and paperwork without reminders.
  3. Adheres to confidentiality statement to preserve confidentiality.
  4. Intervenes therapeutically to suicidal gesture, assaultive behavior, elopement attempts or inappropriate behavior and communicates intervention to Nurse (R.N.) and Program Director.
  5. Adheres to policy and procedure for outings/activities to maintain safety.
  6. Maintains CPR certification.
  7. Assists the proper handling of emergencies of the unit and hospital (i.e., fire, security, and medical).
  8. Adheres to all BHC Policies and Procedures.
  9. Understands comprehends the DCFS Licensing Standards for Childcare Institutions.
  10. Understands the implementation of SACY protective plans.
  11. Understands the JSO offense cycle, cognitive distortions, and relapse prevention plans. (CRC)
  12. Understands the theoretical concepts of a positive peer culture and R.E.T.
  13. Attends Yearly In-services.
  14. Documents unusual incidents concerning assigned clients and communicates to Nurse (R.N.) and Program Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in the psychology, social work, or related field preferred; Requires high school graduate or equivalent.

2-3 years experience in a Residential setting

Must be 21 years of age.
