Recreational Therapist

Copper Hills Youth Center, located in West Jordan, UT is a private residential treatment center for adolescents 12-17 years of age. We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes. At Copper Hills Youth Center, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. Our accredited private school allows students to continue their education while receiving treatment. 


We are searching for a full time Recreational Therapist who will be responsible for planning, organizing and conducting recreational therapy program for assigned units.   As a recreation therapist,

you will have a caseload of 25-30 residents, and you will be conducting psychoeducational groups, adventure outings, service outings and community outings.


Your schedule will generally start around 11 am and end at 7 pm, but that can flex depending on the needs of the department and the needs of your caseload. You will be expected to attend all

meetings and trainings related to your job and your caseload.

  • Licensed in Utah as a Recreational Therapist
  • National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification or eligible for certification
  • Experience with youth preferred
  • Must be able communicate with all levels of staff in a positive manner via written, telephone, and email
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to pass a very thorough background check
