Responsibilities

Medical Technologist (ASCP) – Part-time/Evenings

Aiken Regional Medical Centers, located in Aiken, South Carolina, is a 273-bed acute care facility providing quality healthcare to the residents of Aiken and surrounding communities. Aiken Regional Medical Centers has been ranked a top hospital in South Carolina by the Carolina Center for Medical Excellence for its treatment of heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia. Services provided at the hospital include emergency medical care, orthopedic surgeries, maternity, and behavioral health services.

Medical Technologist provides examination and test performance on human specimens for purposes of obtaining information for the diagnosis, treatment of monitoring of patients; or for providing information to others who will diagnose and treat patients. Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and results reporting.

Job Duties:

  • Assist the Leads and lab management in projects assigned as appropriate
  • Communicates critical values and delays to customers in timely manner
  • Completes CLIA required annual competencies TIMELY
  • Actively participates and maintains always survey readiness.
  • Performs and reviews PT samples and results required by accreditation and compliance
  • Follows proper QC, calibration procedures and corrective actions appropriately
  • Assists in the orientation and training of new and current lab associates as appropriate.
  • Communicates with lab leadership on concerns affecting lab operations, quality and errors.
  • Monitors pending workload and communicate effectively as needed
  • Attends staff meetings in person or virtually
  • Assists with specimen processing to include order entry and/or registration.
  • Assists in the evaluation and validation of new instruments or procedures as appropriate
  • Performs and evaluates validity and quality of results based on technical knowledge, training and following SOPs
  • Communicate and handles problems with customers in a timely manner.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

Education requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field or training in accredited Medical Technology (MT) program.

Work experience requirements:

Clinical experience under a licensed Pathologist.

Required licenses/ certifications/courses:

Registration required by ASCP or equivalent Board of Registry. CPI required for staff who work in FED or obtained within 90 days.
