Position Summary:

The Director of Admissions is a member of the hospital leadership team and is accountable for directing the Admission/Assessment activities (both in-patient and out-patient services). They provide direction to staff including Assessment Coordinators Admission RN’s in the provision of psychiatric assessment, including clinical evaluations, crisis intervention, and referrals. The director implements case management scenarios, consulting with all services to ensure the provision of an effective treatment plan for all patients. The director interfaces closely with the medical staff, fellow department heads and administration, treatment team/external case managers/managed care organizations, functions as a liaison with other hospital departments.

Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, mental health or a related field.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting; one years’ experience in a leadership role managing a related function is desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recovery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Licensure: RN, LMSW, LCSW, LPC or applicable license in the state of Mississippi.

Additional Requirements: A working knowledge of the DSM-IVR and the Mental Status Exam. A working knowledge of the Addiction and Recovery field. CPR certification and successful completion of CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) training.
