Responsibilities

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. It also provides select services for the Behavioral Health division of UHS. Through continuing growth, IPM operates in 11 markets across six states and the District of Columbia. POSITION OVERVIEW

The Director of Financial Planning and Analysis provides strategy and vision to create analytical tools to support IPM. Develops/maintains data integrity strategies. Directs IPM Operating and Capital Budget Process and provides GME Support. Critically analyzes financial and operational results to identify areas of opportunity. Improves standardization to remove variation and focus on strategic output. Collaborates with IS to explore systems and technology.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides strategy and vision to create analytical tools (e.g., Pyramid, CROWE, etc.) and identifies actionable insights that directly support IPM’s financial and operational goals.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining data warehousing, data integrity, and data governance strategies, including EPM and ERP systems (e.g., Oracle and McKesson), and collaborates with IS, Acute Financial Analytics, and other teams as necessary to support IPM’s data and analytics strategy. Directs installation, training, and troubleshooting of financial tools and applications throughout all IPM markets.
  • Directs IPM’s Operating and Capital Budget process. Supports Long Range Planning (LRP) development, including setting targets and monitoring performance to ensure goals are met. Collaborates with Acute Finance team, Prominence team, and other teams during the budget and LRP processes to ensure alignment across all business segments.
  • Provides financial and budget support to Graduate Medical Education (GME) program and GME leadership (CMO/VP – Quality Management, and Chief Academic Officer Lead), including maintaining provider GME offsets.
  • Critically analyzes financial and operational results to identify areas of opportunity and help develop data-driven improvement plans that help support Monthly Operational Reviews (MORs) and Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs).
  • In conjunction with IPM leadership, develops and executes goals to demonstrably and quantifiably improve IPM operations, including eliminating process variation and improving the efficiency and effectiveness of IPM teams and resources

Qualifications

Education: BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Business Analytics, Economics or related discipline or equivalent knowledge acquired by working experience and training.

Knowledge: Prior experience in a financial capacity, preferable at a health care facility. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, data literacy, and analytical abilities. Prior experience with information systems conversion.

Work experience: Five or more years leading analytical team and providing complex financial or operational analytics to senior leadership. Health care experience is preferred but not necessary. Background in data and analytics should include robust experience with data modeling, data warehousing, data governance, data analytics, and data visualization. and an understanding of analytical tools on the market with a demonstrated ability to learn new analytical tools.

Travel Requirements: Domestic US travel, up to 25%.
