UHS of Delaware, Inc. is Hiring an Utilization Management Coordinator Near EVERETT, WA

The Utilization Management Coordinator performs all functions related to hospital resources and reimbursement. Utilization Management functions as liaison between payors, the business office, and treatment team, providing information and feedback to assist in optimum patient care and reimbursement.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in mental health, social work or a minimum of an ADN degree in nursing required, BSN preferred.

Experience:

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience in behavioral health utilization preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years previous direct clinical experience in a psychiatric health care setting, required.

Licensure: 

  • R.N., L.C.S.W. or applicable license preferred.
  • Minimum qualification is Washington State RN license or licensed mental health clinician associate or Agency Affiliate working toward certification within 2 years.

Additional Requirements:

  • CPR, 1st Aid and Handle with Care/De-escalation training.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of case management techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment, family motivating and treatment planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of external review organizations (e.g., managed care, Medicare, and Medicaid) and gatekeeper roles.
  • Knowledge of patients’ rights, advance directives, adult and child abuse laws, and emergency detention regulations.
  • Knowledge of patient care planning.
  • Knowledge and utilization of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of payor resources and financial planning for mental health care.
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent customer relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in interacting with multiple individuals with diversified roles and perspectives.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette, paging and voice mail procedures.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to handle conflicting situations.
  • Ability to focus on details in a busy environment.
  • Ability to operate in an unstructured environment, orchestrate a myriad of activities and to manage multiple priorities within complex systems.
  • Ability to tolerate ambiguity, uncertainty, and change.
  • Ability to work at a rapid pace.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, family members and co-workers.
  • Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to work as a team player.
  • Ability to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication.
  • Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedure
  • Ability to recognize the importance of adapting to the various patient age groups (child, adolescent and adult).

  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to stand, or walk up to six hours, sit for up to two hours.
  • Ability to occasionally push/pull wheeled carts up to 200 lbs. (i.e. crash carts, patient on stretchers or in wheelchairs).
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
  • Ability to see well enough to read written materials.
  • Ability to discern a variety of odors.
  • Ability to handle hazardous/infectious waste on an occasional basis.
  • Ability to work in an environment where the noise level is frequently high; where chemicals are frequently used in cleaning; where mechanical and electrical hazards may occasionally be present; and where dust, mist and stream are frequently generated in housekeeping tasks.
  • Ability to respond to exposure to blood and bodily fluids.
