Poplar Springs Hospital is a 183 bed acute care and residential facility. For more than 30 years Poplar Springs Hospital has been guided by its mission of helping those who need the full continuum of behavioral health services. Our facility offers behavioral and psychological treatment for adults and adolescents through our acute programs, adolescent residential programs, as well as programs for active duty military. Poplar Springs Hospital is located in Petersburg, Virginia, 20 minutes south of Richmond and 50 minutes north of North Carolina. Situated on 25 acres, our serene, nature-like setting offers our patients a sense of calm and peace. We have a new opening for a Transporter. The Transporter will transport patients and/or residents to and from appointments as scheduled by facility staff and for admissions or discharges. In addition to providing transportation, this position will also be utilized to perform clerical duties such as but not limited to, filing unit/department supply requisitions, delivery of supplies to various locations and delivery of packages received through UPS, Fed Ex etc. During times when there are no transports scheduled and other obligations are fulfilled, this position may be asked to perform other clerical duties such as filing, copying, and duties as such or be assigned as a MHT on a unit. Performs other duties as assigned.

Hours will vary and applicants need to have flexibility with his/her availability.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Valid Virginia state driver’s license and DMV Record meeting minimum qualifications per Company’s insurance policy.
  • Certifications in CPR/First Aid and HWC preferred.

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience driving larger sized vans or trucks preferred.
  • Previous experience transporting patients, residents or general public preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of state laws of the road.

General Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age per Commonwealth of Virginia Interdepartmental Regulation of Children’s Residential Facilities. (22VAC42-11-380, pg. 43)
  • Must have patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm.
  • Good communication skills; must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Basic clerical skills, basic experience with office equipment (telephone, copy machine, fax, etc.)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to problem solve and accept feedback when circumstances warrant such actions.
  • Willingness to interact with patients with varying levels of cognitive functioning.
