Responsibilities

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center opened its doors in 2014 and provides the highest quality of behavioral healthcare for patients in a safe, secure and nurturing environment.

Suncoast Behavioral Health Center offers a unique treatment programs across inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient settings for children and adolescents.

In a highly specialized field of psychiatry, our goal is to promote cognitive, social, physical and emotional development to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills to help our patients succeed.

The facility is looking for a Teacher who will be responsible for the educational leadership of students in the classroom. Provides a classroom environment conducive to learning. Strives to maximize the educational achievement of each student. Reviews student records in order to develop a foundation of understanding regarding each student’s abilities and needs.

TEACHER for ESE K-12/Any content 6-12. English (grades 6-12) or Social Science (broad field; grades 6-12) preferred.

The Hospital/Homebound school within the facility contracts with the Manatee County school district to provide a small classroom educational environment to residential patients. A 4:1 student to staff ratio is maintained throughout the school day for behavior support in the classroom with additional support from on-site psychiatrists, a board certified behavior analyst, therapists and a full medical team. We follow required state and county rules and regulations for a Hospital/Homebound site.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from a fully accredited college or university.
  • Certification: Florida Educators certificate required by the Florida Department of Education. English (grades 6-12) or Social Science (broad field; grades 6-12) preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational theories and classroom teaching strategies. Ability to work with multi-level/multi-grade students in small class environment. Computer literacy. Commitment to facility mission and policies .
  • Additional Requirements: Must adhere to all facility and school board policies. Pass a Level 2 background check and pre-employment drug screen.
