Northwest School of Innovative Learning (a UHS facility):

Northwest School of Innovative Learning, is a behavioral, therapeutic and academic learning program designed for students from kindergarten through high school who are unable to successfully navigate traditional school settings. We offer a comprehensive and therapeutic program that helps meet the academic, special education, and behavioral health needs of students from school districts throughout the Puget Sound region. A full academic curriculum is individually tailored, along with therapeutic treatment needs.

Position Summary: $20,000 Sign-on bonus available with a two year commitment.

The Speech Language Pathologist performs speech therapy functions for Tacoma School. This includes assisting students in meeting their language and literacy needs using therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of communicative wellbeing. The Speech Language Pathologist will provide basic consultation and instruction, administer tests and track progress as pertains to students individualized short term and long term goals, create speech language reports and progress notes, participate in IEP meetings as needed. Responsible for personal and Corporate Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years experience in an educational setting, with direct experience in speech therapies, crisis intervention, and treatment skills is preferred; must have strong clinical assessment skills.

License: Must have current Speech Language Pathology license in the state of Washington. Must maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license. 

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR and First Aid certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care (HWC) and verbal de-escalation training. Successful completion of orientation training. May be required to work flexible hours. May require some travel.
