Responsibilities

Northwest School of Innovative Learning (a UHS facility):

Northwest School of Innovative Learning, is a behavioral, therapeutic and academic learning program designed for students from kindergarten through high school who are unable to successfully navigate traditional school settings. We offer a comprehensive and therapeutic program that helps meet the academic, special education, and behavioral health needs of students from school districts throughout the Puget Sound region. A full academic curriculum is individually tailored, along with therapeutic treatment needs.

Position Summary:

The Recreational Therapist is responsible for overseeing the therapeutic activities program. This position is responsible for completing program evaluations and using collected data for quality improvement. The person in this position consistently collaborates with other education team members to achieve recreational therapy standards of practice. In addition, this position is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and supervising care for students. This position assists in defining and implementing student behavioral goals as a member of the educational team, as well as conducting recreational therapy groups for children. May organize and conduct systematic in-service training for staff as ongoing staff development as it relates to recreational therapy. Responsible for personal and Corporate Service Excellence standards.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor's Degree required.

Experience: Previous experience with youth and adolescents in an educational, mental health, and/or psychiatric setting is preferred. Training or experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural groups preferred. Leadership experience preferred.

Licensure: Recreational Therapist Registration with WA DOH required, CTRS through NCTRC is preferred. Must maintain a valid Washington State driver's license and good driving record.

Additional Requirements: Successful completion of CPR and First Aid certification. Successful completion of Handle With Care (HWC) and verbal de-escalation training. Successful completion of orientation training. May be required to work flexible hours. May require some travel.
