Our Receptionist operates switchboard to relay incoming and outgoing calls and pages. Greets and directs all lobby visitors.
Essential Functions/Job Skills
Greets visitors, patients, and families in a professional manner. Assists and directs individuals as necessary.
Processes incoming and outgoing telephone calls clearly and efficiently within three rings or less on a continuing basis.
Accepts messages for Administrative personnel and ensures all messages are distributed on a daily basis.
Reports all equipment problems to Supervisor and/or Support Services Director.
Accepts and processes patient payments, employee meal ticket sales, COBRA payments and postage on a daily basis.
Receive and record any money that comes over the counter after business hours.
Initiates routine paging clearly and efficiently.
Initiates emergency paging upon receiving alarm or call with clarity and in a calm manner.
Appropriate response to hospital codes as defined in PBX Policy & Procedure Manual.
Assists other departments with:
Putting labels on envelopes.
Other duties as assigned.
Pre-sorts all hospital mail.
Coordinate initial assessment paperwork with A&R department.
As time permits, compile paperwork for patient admit packs as well as document certifications in the patient account system.
Is willing to assume additional duties as assigned.

Experience: Two (2) years experience on a multi-line telephone switchboard, preferably in a heath care environment and any combination of education, training, or experience in a hospital environment. Additional Requirements: May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
High School education or equivalent experience in hospital or medical office related setting. Previous experience with PBX board; good communication skills; good telephone skills; ability to concentrate on tasks in high traffic area; maintain information as highly confidential; good organization and priority setting skills; empathy; attention to detail; basic typing skills.
