Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have high level of interpersonal skills. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to demonstrate understanding of a variety of models and theories of addiction, MI, and related issues. Knowledge of philosophies, practices, policies and outcomes of models of treatment, recovery, relapse prevention, and continuing care for dually diagnosed populations.
  • Understanding of diagnostic criteria for dual disorders and ability to conceptualize modalities and placement criteria within the continuum of care.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, and presentations (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 
  • Demonstrates ability to manage people which includes planning, decision making and facilitating process improvements; takes responsibility for subordinates’ activities; makes self available to staff and provides regular performance feedback.
  • Understands need for and maintains appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources and all other contacts.
  • Exhibits excellent customer relation skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, residents, visitors, families and referral sources. 

Education and Experience

  • Medical degree and license to practice in state of Michigan required.
  • Must be board-certified.
  • Must have certificate in addiction from the American Society of Addiction Medicine. 
  • Must have expertise and experience treating patients with mental illness and addictive disorders.
  • Supervisory and training experience a plus.
