The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner is certified and licensed by the State Board of Nursing in the state of New Jersey to provide psychiatric services under the direction of the collaborating physician. Functions in an expanded role as a professional nurse, performing acts of medical diagnosis and prescription of medical therapeutics or corrective measures, in collaboration with a physician. This individual must be able to demonstrate competency and completion of the criteria listed in this in description as well as criteria set forth in credentialing and privileging process as set forth in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Medical Staff Rules and Regulation. The CRNP must be available to work in all treatment settings, treat dually diagnosed patients and provide care for the population congruent to their certification.
Duties and Responsibilities: perform history and physicals within twenty-four (24) hours of patients being admitted to inpatient/outpatient services, perform and follow-up on medical consults ordered by attending physicians and on patients returning from outside emergency medical care, manage chronic and acute medical conditions, adhere to Antibiotic Stewardship Program guidelines for antibiotic response review, review patient laboratory test results, order EKGs, labs, radiologic interventions as clinically indicated and follow-up on results, coordinate medical care with primary care physicians or specialists when indicated, respond to medical codes, remain on-site for medical emergencies during work hours.
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Experienced in inpatient and outpatient medical care, well developed skills in integrating individual treatment approaches into treatment milieu and good working relationships with other attending physicians and staff.
Licensure: Active and unrestricted New Jersey license to practice as a certified registered nurse practitioner.
Additional Requirements: Current competence in all areas for which clinical privileges are requested as described in the Medical Staff bylaws and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations as well as monitoring through the FPPE and OPPE process. Successful completion of General Hospital Orientation and Department / Job Orientation. Participate annually in Summit Oaks Hospital’s staff requirements, including Employee Health requirements related to Tuberculosis testing and Healthstream assignments. Staff members must attend all mandatory in-services and are encouraged to participate in activities that enhance their professional growth and development.
