PRN PHARMACY TECH OPPORTUNITY

Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is a 105 bed capacity behavioral health facility that provides psychiatric services. We specialize in treatment for adults, children and adolescents. Brentwood Behavioral offers both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric services. Located in Flowood, MS, in Rankin County with close proximity to Hinds and Madison Counties, our outpatient services are within driving distance to many surrounding areas. Brentwood Behavioral Healthcare is looking for a dynamic Pharmacy Techincian - PRN to join our team.

The Phramcy Tech Position Description:

Non-clinical functions relating to delivery of pharmaceuticals to patient care areas, working under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. The supervising pharmacist is fully aware of all activities involved in the preparation and dispensing of medication, including the maintenance of appropriate records. Assists the pharmacist as needed.

  • Makes rounds to nursing units to pick up orders, deliver medications, etc.
  • Fills Pyxis in a timely manner.
  • Prepares and updates patient profiles on all hospitalized patients with information to include patient name, diagnosis, hospital number, age, sex, allergies, M.D.’s treating (psychiatrist and internist), date of admission, and other pertinent information.
  • Prepares prescriptions for verification by pharmacist.
  • Places and transmits orders to drug wholesaler.
  • Checks in all medication orders.
  • Checks for outdated drugs monthly on nursing units, Pyxis machines and in the Pharmacy.
  • Maintains proper boundaries when interacting with patients and their families and co-workers. Seeks direction or clarification from supervisor or Human Resources when necessary.
  • Maintains confidentiality of former and current patient information.
  • Locates and utilizes appropriate resources to complete an assigned task.
  • Works independently to solve problems. Looks for opportunities to take on more responsibility.
  • Accepts change and responds to setbacks with minimal disruption.

Qualifications

Preferred: Prior Experience in a Healthcare Facility

Minimum: Registered with the Mississippi Board of Pharmacy
