Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The patient account representative will be responsible for processing admission paperwork. Coordinate with the intake department regarding those admissions, prior authorizations and meeting with responsible parties regarding the collection of co-pays and deductibles at the time of discharge.

Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of insurance payments. Following up on claim denials and coordination of those denials with the Utilization Review department. Review accounts, write-off administrative, charity and contractual adjustments using appropriate transaction codes. Coordinate with medical records regarding requests received from insurance company.

Promptly handle incoming telephone calls for all assigned accounts. Monitor credit balances by utilizing the Credit Balance Report to alleviate credit balances and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance preferred and 2 years of billing experience in a hospital setting.

In this position you must be flexible and have a high degree of patience as we are a Behavioral health facility. Must be able to work in a team environment and individually as needed. Excellent customer service is required
