Qualifications

Position Summary: A primarily weekend shift (1 to 2 weekends per month). Responsibilities include general medical and psychiatric coverage that reflects new or ongoing medical problems and initial evaluations. These include: medical histories, physical exams, admission orders, etc. Psychiatric problems and needs will be addressed with the assistance and guidance of a senior staff psychiatrist. Uses an understanding of the pri­nciples of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and pro­vide age specific treatment and care.

Qualifications

Education, Training, and Experience: Ohio licensed Nurse Practitioner with demonstrated medical experience and proven leadership, strong clinical skills, and high motivation. Graduate of accredited program preferred.

Special Equipment, Skills, or Other Requirements: Good communications skills. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Shows initiative and possess good problem solving skills. Ability to use thermometer, sphygmomanometer, emergency medical equipment, oto/ophthalmoscope.

Work Environment and Hazards: Exposure to psychiatric patients, some of which are children who may possess unknown childhood diseases, and who may exhibit violent, aggressive and/or unpredictable behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital and psychiatric residential environment

Work Contact Group: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping.
