Milieu Manager PRN Opportunity

Emerald Coast Behavioral Hospital provides inpatient treatment services to children, adolescents and adults at our 86-bed facility in Panama City, FL and outpatient services to adolescents and adults at our three outpatient centers located throughout the Florida Panhandle. Additionally, we offer specialized treatment for active duty military members through our Military Resiliency Program, specialized chemical dependency treatment and TMS therapy for chronic depression.

The Milieu Manager oversees the patient activity on the assigned unit(s) to include MHT lead groups, planned activities, adherence to daily schedule and patient milieu in support of a therapeutic milieu. The Milieu Manager is tasked with assisting with crisis intervention, addressing issues of acuity and aggression reduction. Performs Mental Health Technician (MHT) duties as assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develops, organizes and leads assigned MHT groups, activities, events, projects on assigned unit(s).
• Charts group notes, observations, interactions with patients, and pertinent information relative to patient care using the designated charting format.
• Communicates appropriate patient related information to nurse, team members and others as necessary. Discusses current issues, special treatment needs, precautions and observations with treatment team members and works to develop plans to meet these needs.
• Responds on behalf of the facility in crisis situations. Works to maintain a safe, nurturing, clean and supportive environment. Works with individual patients as needed to develop and promote positive patient outcomes and reduce the need for restraint and seclusion.
• Assists in the development of MHT competencies and training programs, assisting and/or leading Milieu Management training with staff.
• Serves as a mentor and trainer to new employees.
• Serves as a personal model of the behavior that is expected of others.

Qualifications

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher in a related field or successful completion of LPN program preferred.
• Two (2) year’s experience in an acute behavioral health setting with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques, demonstrated understanding of mental illness and related behavioral management techniques.
• Ability to work Saturday & Sunday 12pm to 8:30pm
