UHS of Delaware, Inc. is Hiring a MEDICAL RECORDS MANAGER Near PORTLAND, OR

Responsibilities

Cedar Hills Hospital is a 98-bed behavioral health hospital and outpatient services provider in Portland, Oregon, dedicating to healing our patients’ minds and bodies through a combination of high-quality clinical services and holistic healing practices.

We are seeking a full-time Health Information Manager to be responsible for directing the activities of the Health Information Management Department in the management and maintenance of all patient medical records information, ensuring compliance with all state and federal laws, rules/regulations of licensing agencies and within JCAHO standards for the quality of patient care.

This exempt-level leadership position oversees a team of HIM support staff and Medical Coders. This role assures that records are kept confidential, secure, current, authenticated, legible, and complete. Records and informational content must be safeguarded against loss, defacement, and tampering, as well as from use by unauthorized individuals. The Health Information Manager provides services necessary for prompt retrieval of information, both clinical (diagnosis codes) and statistical (admissions, etc.) and provides for transcription of clinical dictation and utilization review for third party payers. This position oversees release of information within state and federal confidentiality guidelines and serves as facility HIPAA Security Officer, assuring the ongoing management of information policy, procedure and technical systems in order to maintain the confidentiality, integrity and availability of all facility information systems.

A successful person in this role is able to work cooperatively across departments and with all levels of hospital staff and doctors. Detail-orientation is important. The HIM team is stable and the reason this position is open is due to the promotion of the previous Manager so, we are looking for someone who can integrate well with a smoothly operating team!

Estimated salary range for this position is around $65,000 and up/annual dependent on experience.

Qualifications

Position Requirements

    • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in information management/medical records required or equivalent combination of education and experience. Current and active educational enrollment to Health Information degree and expectation to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
    • Experience: A minimum of three (3) - five (5) years manager/leadership experience in information management with direct experience in a health care facility preferred. Professional behavioral health experience is a plus. Thorough knowledge of medical records coding and medical terminology required.
  • Additional Requirements: Certification accreditation as a registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), as determined by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).
