Medical Assistant 

Copper Hills Youth Center, located in West Jordan, UT is a private residential treatment center for adolescents 12-17 years of age. We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes. At Copper Hills Youth Center, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders. Our accredited private school allows students to continue their education while receiving treatment.

The full time Medical Assistant will focus on the following essential functions:

• Demonstrates understanding of physical, emotional, cultural, religious and psychosocial needs of patients
• Assist in providing a safe, therapeutic environment
• Ensure patients receive care as per physician orders
• Transcribe and document orders per Mental Health and Medical Providers
• Demonstrates knowledge of Medical Department philosophy, and assumes responsibility for maintaining Standards of Nursing Practice and Standards of Care for all patients
• Works under doctors licensure, but seeks supervision from immediate supervisor for complex issues that arise
• Prioritizes medical interventions according to individual patient and overall unit milieu needs
• Professionally collaborates with all staff members to facilitate coordinated contribution to patient care; maintains continuity of patient care
• Participates and attends treatment planning as needed by providers
• Serves as a role model for patients to observe and learn more socially effective values, attitudes and behaviors
• Intervenes in medical emergencies including proper notification of administration, physicians, primary therapist, and family
• Assess patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse rate, oxygen saturation, respiration rate, height and weight.
• Assist in phlebotomy for required lab work.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

• Medical Assistant graduate of an accredited school with Medical Assistant Certification
• At least 1 year experience in the medical field is preferred.
• At least 1 year phlebotomy experience is required
• Valid State Drivers license required
• Must be at least 21 years of age
