Responsibilities

For 36 years, Pride Institute has been providing LGBTQIA people (ages 18 ) with an inclusive and accepting place for recovery through evidence-based treatment for substance abuse, sexual health and mental health. Our staff understand the issues the LGBTQIA community face and aim to help give clients the tools needed for addiction and mental health recovery.

We are currently looking for a part-time, Maintenance Helper to assist our Maintenance Lead with ensuring a clean, well maintained and fully functioning living environment for Pride clients at our Eden Prairie residential treatment center (RTC) and our nearby “PHP” house, in addition to ensuring an optimal physical work environment for Pride staff. Working primarily at the RTC, our Maintenance Helper’s schedule is Fridays and Saturdays, 8 hours per day. The start time can be somewhat flexible.

Our Maintenance Helper is responsible for performing a wide variety of duties to manage routine upkeep of our buildings and exterior areas, including minor repair and installation projects, basic plumbing and electrical issues, as well as non-routine/emergency cleaning as necessary or requested. As is true of all Pride staff, our Maintenance Helper provides our clients with appropriate compassionate care while maintaining professional boundaries, and they protect and maintain confidential facility, staff and client information.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of one year of hands-on experience with basic plumbing and electrical systems, heating and air conditioning systems, fire and life safety systems, and general building maintenance. Because our Maintenance Helper maintains and uses our facility vehicles, a valid Minnesota driver’s license is required.

Physical requirements include being able to lift up to 75 lbs., climb ladders and stairs, work in tight spaces, and work outdoors during inclement weather conditions. Must be able to pass/clear the MN DHS Background Study, must pass a UA drug test, and must be free of problematic substance use for at least one year immediately preceding hiring. All Pride staff are currently required to be fully immunized against COVID-19 and are required to mask when inside our facilities.
