McDowell Center for Children (a UHS facility):

McDowell Center is a 28-bed residential treatment facility located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our outpatient is also located in Dyersburg, Tennessee, for adolescent males and females experiencing mental health, behavioral, and/or substance abuse issues. Our staff is made up of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and counselors who offer 24-hour support for our patients and 8 hour days, 5 days a week for outpatient. We provide young men with the skills they need to improve their thinking patterns, make healthier choices, and create new futures with improved outlooks and outcomes.

Position Summary:

The Licensed Practical Nurse renders professional nursing care to clients within the OutPatient milieu and practices ongoing client assessment through observation of physical and behavioral symptomatology. He/she documents all data accurately and in a timely fashion, administers medications appropriately, and participates in formulation of individual care plans for all clients. The LPN implements the plan of care according to hospital policy, evaluates, and updates the plan as needed. He/she communicates pertinent data to other disciplines. 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: Current Tennessee LPN licensure. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Experience in Psychiatric Nursing desirable. Able to communicate effectively in English through written and verbal means. Ability to plan and provide individualized nursing care. Ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluation of situations and/or making nursing decisions.
