Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN): provides direct patient care as prescribed by the physician and treatment team; provides medical management and assessment of patients; ensures environmental safety and crisis management for the patient population; directs the implementation of behavior management programs and ensure consistent carry-through; makes patient & task assignments to subordinates & monitor their performance of duties; provides training & education to staff, patients, families, & others; documents patient care, ensure that data is accurate, & that it is included in the master treatment plan via timely nursing care plan updates; works with the treatment team to provide a consistently therapeutic milieu.

The Infection Control/Employee Health RN is responsible for creating and coordinating the activities of the Infection Prevention Plan and the Infection Control Department, assuring direct responsibility for infection surveillance and reporting, and providing technical support and education for the hospital staff. RN is also responsible for the 24 hour operational management of the Employee Health Program at Friend’s Hospital. Responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating; reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all Nursing staff required training.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited program of professional nursing required; BSN preferred. Two year inpatient psychiatric experience with adults, adolescents and/or children preferred. One year of progressive experience in management and/or supervision, preferred. Two years’ experience in infection control preferred.
