UHS of Delaware, Inc. is Hiring a Financial Counselor Near LOUISVILLE, CO

Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

The Financial Counselor is under the general supervision of the Business Office Director and is an integral part of the business office team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Responsible for monitoring and maintaining current insuraqnce of patients by verifying benefits 
  • Responsible for the collection of co-pays and deductibles at the time services are rendered and/or make payment arrangements to collect 
  • Prioritizes follow-up on accounts as appropriate, but no less than every 30 days
  • Review EOBs for proper payment, document any denials and resolve any denied amounts on a timely basis
  • Ensures bad debt and denials are presented for write-off in a timely fashion with all supporting documents completed
  • Documentation accuracy: maitain documentation on all third-party billing contract rates and procedures, ensures proper contractual discounts and codes are utilized to net accounts receiveable, responsible for documenting notes completely and concisely regarding follow-up activity and keeping organized paper documentation 
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of computer software and accuracy in data entry 
  • Knowledge of insurance and billing practices and ability to correctly translate verbal descriptions of diagnoses and procedures to numerical codes
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (significant communication takes place over the telephone)
  • Working knowledge of insurance terms, reimbursement procedures, medical terminology, and hospital services
  • Ability to interact positively with patients, family members, co-workers, supervisors, and other departments 
  • Ability to adapt to changes and function in a fast-paced environment
  • Appropriate level of comfort working in a behavioral health environment and observe the standards of care for patients 
  • Provide assistance in the area of credit, collection, and patient billing opertations to assure that hospital policy and procedures are maintained at all times 

Pay Range: $19.00-23.00/hr 

Qualifications

Position Requirements: 

Education: High School Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.

License or Certification: None

Experience: One to three years of relevant experience preferred. Experience billing healthcare entities such as Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Plans, and private pay highly preferred.
