Responsibilities

The Sierra Vista Hospital location, a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, is a full-service mental health facility and a center of support for patients and their families. Since 1986, we have offered our clinical expertise to those suffering from emotional, behavioral and addiction problems.

The Director of Assessment & Referral, reporting to the CEO, is responsible for and provides clinical direction in psychiatric and chemical dependency assessment services including evaluation, crisis intervention and referrals, and works closely with administration, medical staff and other departments, as necessary. In addition, the Director is responsible for the management, planning and improvement process related to meeting the overall hospital goals strategically and financially with-in the A&R department and as a member of the Senior Management team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in nursing, social work, psychology, mental health or a related field, required.

Licensure:

  • BSN, LCSW, LMFT, PsyD, or PhD required.

Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting, including psychiatric and addiction diagnosis, clinical interviewing, patient assessment and treatment planning. Communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of managing a professional/clinical team and responsible for staffing, budget and process improvements.

Additional Requirements:

  • Complete knowledge of crisis intervention techniques & successful completion of Crisis Prevention Institute (C.P.I.) training.
  • CPR certification
  • Knowledge and ability to effectively use computers, analysis programs and internet for measurement and reporting of key indicators and trends.
