Responsibilities:

CLINICAL DIETICIAN, DIABETES SERVICES

Cumberland Hospital for Children & Adolescents is seeking a Clinical Dietician as part of the Diabetes Advisory Committee and Diabetes Treatment Team to provide appropriate care for the nutritional needs of children and adolescents with chronic illnesses.
Cumberland Hospital is a unique acute care, inpatient specialty hospital with 110 licensed beds, including a Residential Treatment Center. We treat patients, ages 2-22 who chronic illnesses, brain injuries and neurobehavioral disorders with co-behavioral issues. Our 100 acre riverfront campus is located in beautiful New Kent, VA, a short commute from both Richmond and Williamsburg.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
  • Knowledge & expertise in in nutritional status of child growth, development and behavioral issues as they affect nutritional intake.
  • Knowledge & expertise in nutritional requirement of individuals with various chronic illnesses and special nutritional needs.
Responsibilities:
  • Initiate and complete nutritional screening and assessments of all assigned patients admitted to the hospital.
  • Determines appropriateness of tube feeding and/or diet order and provides appropriate recommendations to the medical staff for adjustments to meet patient needs.
  • Interprets, adjusts and checks accuracy of diet orders for kitchen staff so that appropriate food items are prepared.
  • Provides nutritional education and counseling to all patients and families.
  • Provides services to residential units on a consult basis
  • Participates in the discharge planning/meeting of patients with specific nutritional concerns and goals
  • Works cooperatively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, attending treatment team meetings and in-service training.
Qualifications:
Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Food and Nutrition

Licensure
: Registered Dietician, maintain CPI certification bi-annually, CPR (BLS provider annually), First Aid Certifications (every two years)

Physical Requirements
: Capable of CPI non-violent restraint and intervention
Capable of providing CPR and First Aid
