COOK (Food Service Worker) Opportunity

 

Provo Canyon School is hiring a Cook/Food Service Worker to join our talented Nutrician and Dietitian team. 

 

We are hiring for full-time positions with a salary range of $14.50 to $18.00 per hour based on experience.

 

Provo Canyon School, with locations in Orem, UT and in Springville, UT, has a proud history of quality services and successful treatment outcomes. Cook (Food Service Worker) Responsibilities:

  • Prepares wholesome and attractive meals according to menu established by Dietary Manager. Adjusts the number of portions to be prepared according to current census to prevent unnecessary waste. Meal preparation may include breakfast, lunch brunch, dinner meals, and/or for special functions.
  • Ensures that items necessary for menu are in stock and available for use two days in advance (i.e. ensuring frozen meat is removed from freezer and thawed in time for use.)
  • Ensures that food is served at the appropriate temperature, in adequate serving sizes, and without delays. Does not serve food that has been over- or under-cooked, burned, or inappropriately seasoned.
  • Observes all safety and sanitary regulations in the preparation of food, storage of food, and cleanliness of preparation and serving areas. Wears clean uniform, hair net, plastic gloves, etc. Maintains cleanliness of the food preparation area, including floors, tables, and equipment (i.e. grill, stove, mixer, steamer, slicer, deep-fryer, etc.)
  • Responsible for the set-up of the serving area including steam tables and salad bar. Serves and/or supervises meal service during work shift.
  • Responsible for storage and using all suitable leftovers according to established policy and procedure.
  • Ensures that off-limits areas and items (such as knives) are secured and inaccessible to students or unauthorized staff.
  • Is responsible for daily accurate inventory control to facilitate accurate ordering and inventory reporting.

Qualifications

Cook (Food Service Worker) Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year preparation experience as cook REQUIRED
  • Must be open to working at either campus weekly (Provo & Springville)
  • Minimum age 21 years old
  • Current Utah Food Handlers Permit and or current Serv-Safe Certification
