The Horsham Clinic is seeking a dynamic and talented Charge Nurse.

The Horsham Clinic is a 206-bed, private behavioral healthcare facility located on a beautiful 55-acre suburban campus in Montgomery County. We are minutes from Philadelphia and serve patients and families from Southeastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. The Horsham Clinic provides comprehensive behavioral health services to children, adolescents, adults, and their families. In addition to our main campus in Ambler, we have two satellite partial hospitalization programs in Bucks and Delaware County. The Charge Nurse supervises the delivery of nursing care provided by professional and support nursing staff on a designated unit. Care is provided in a manner consistent with the philosophy and objectives of The Horsham Clinic and the ANA Standards of Practice for Psychiatric Mental Health Care. The Charge Nurse prescribes, coordinates and delegates care utilizing the nursing process which is integrated into the multidisciplinary treatment team plan of care. The Charge Nurse is accountable for nursing care activities on a shift basis and is responsible for promoting and enhancing professional nursing practice on the unit. An individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied populations including children, adolescents, adults, older adults and dually diagnosed patients.

Special Factors:

While performing the duties of this job, regularly required to stand and walk. Employee must be able to access all areas of the hospital. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Frequently need to reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to physically handle assertive/combative patients. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds. Vision and hearing within normal limits. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, occasionally loud. The physical and mental demands may be strenuous at times. There may be long periods of standing, or walking, and medium to heavy lifting. The work is performed in client areas, therefore, there exists a potential for exposure to environmental hazards and contagious diseases, exposure to crisis/emergency situations, and exposure to all infectious diseases including HIV/TB/Hepatitis, blood and body fluids and needle sticks.

Qualifications

  • Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/ aggressive behavior. General hospital environment.
  • Must be willing to work with adults, adolescents and dual diagnosed patients.
  • Licensure: Current license or eligibility for licensure to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania
  • Diploma in Nursing from a CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of behavioral mental health, nursing clinical practices, and management
  • Knowledge of principles and practices relevant to nursing and patient care activities
  • Highly Developed written and verbal communication skills
  • 3 or more years of progressive nursing management experience in behavioral health setting
  • Ability to plan, direct, and monitor others activities with demonstrated leadership abilities that contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Proficiency with common computer based applications such as electronic mail, word processing and various databases
