Position Purpose: The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist will follow the coordinated and developed comprehensive therapeutic recreation program, including assisting patients with developing, maintaining, and expressing an appropriate leisure lifestyle. Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications:

Certified by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC). Current CPR and CPI certifications, or must obtain within 90-days of hire.

Total education, vocational training and experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or a related field from an accredited college or university.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge and experience with therapeutic recreation process, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Must have the visual acuity to identify, instruct, and evaluate patient’s skills, affect, needs, safety, and progress.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills are required to communicate and interact effectively with patients, families, physicians, hospital staff, and the public.
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
