Responsibilities

Accounting/Payroll Specialist

Working under the direction of the Controller, the Accounting Specialist prepares payroll, month-end general ledger entries, reconciliations, and conducts financial analysis. Prepares, schedules, and performs research for management, audits tax returns, and completes other assignments as directed by management.

  • Completes the bi-weekly payroll processing in a timely and accurate manner in compliance with Federal and State wage and hour regulations and UHS policy.
  • Inputs new employee data into Kronos.
  • Inputs meal tickets, bonuses, and other data into Kronos.
  • Upload Kronos data to Lawson PR, reconcile Kronos to Lawson
  • Reconcile Payroll tax data before finalizing the payroll run
  • Prepare out of cycle paychecks with proper approval in compliance with UHS policy.
  • Reviews Kronos timesheets each Tuesday morning to ensure they are complete and accurate. Notifies supervisor of missing data that will impact the weekly FTE report. Prepare weekly FTE report and OT reports on off payroll weeks.
  • Prepares month-end general ledger entries, reconciliations, and conducts financial analysis.
  • Prepares month-end expense accruals.
  • Ensures internal controls are properly followed.
  • Prepares, schedules, and performs research for management, and audits tax returns.
  • Prepares and distributes month-end financial reports.
  • Reviews invoices for proper authorization, verifies documentation of receipt of goods, verifies correct pricing and invoice accuracy.
  • Reviews employee expense reports and AP check requests for proper authorization, adequate documentation and mathematical accuracy.
  • Accurately determines the correct expense codes for invoices, employee expense reports and AP check requests.
  • Processes weekly AP check run.
  • Qualifications

    REQUIREMENTS

    High school diploma or equivalent required. Three (3) years of accounts payable, general ledger, and/or payroll experience required. Must be proficient with Outlook, Excel, and Word. Current enrollment in college accounting or finance coursework in pursuit of a degree, strongly preferred.
