The Enterprise Software Solutions department at Argonne National Laboratory invites you to join our team in a learning and collaborative environment. We are responsible for supporting the Laboratory’s enterprise software to further the science and technology mission of the lab. We are seeking an experienced data engineer as a member of our Data and Analytics group, which is responsible for building the enterprise data warehouse and integrations. Expertise in relational data analysis, data design, and ETL methods is required. The successful candidate will have a proven record of requirements analysis, problem solving, and solution design, and will be able to use those skills to create new solutions or revise existing ones. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate an ability to work well with a team by exhibiting strong collaboration skills, team and customer focus, and an ability to work with senior management – all in a very dynamic environment. The position requires problem-solving ability, perseverance, and strong communication skills. Argonne supports a hybrid-work environment (combination of on-site and remote), however, fully remote work is an option. Position Requirements Your level of experience in the required skills should be consistent with your years of experience in software development Technical Skills Strong experience with ETL tools, specifically Informatica PowerCenter, for designing, developing, and maintaining ETL workflows and mappings. Solid understanding of data modeling, data warehouse concepts, and data integration best practices. Proficiency in implementing data warehouse designs, especially star schema and dimensional modeling. Experience with Microsoft Power BI for designing, creating, and maintaining reports and dashboards. Experience with current SQL Server versions, including writing complex SQL queries and performance tuning. Strong understanding of data quality and validation techniques, including data profiling, data cleansing, and data reconciliation.
