Human Resources Business Partner

Hiring Salary Range: commensurate with qualifications

THE ROLE and RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the HR Business Partner is responsible for a variety of initiatives in support of departments and the administration. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, management of staff orientation and staff events, policy implementation and interpretation, training and development, performance management, and HR project management.

The incumbent will provide HR support including, but not limited to:

  • Staff Orientation and Events: Lead and coordinate staff orientations and staff events
  • Employee/Labor Relations: Serve as resource for managers and staff. Ensure compliance with policies and collective bargaining agreements, provide guidance in addressing performance concerns. Oversee the performance evaluation process and provide training to managers. Lead initiatives to develop and maintain accurate job descriptions.
  • Training and Development: Develop and administer training programs for employees and managers. Provide or coordinate group and individual training on various topics. Oversee the mandatory College-wide training programs.
  • Policy Development and Implementation: Work with the CHRO to review, develop, and implement personnel policies and communicate them to managers and employees.
  • HR Project Management: Serve as project management resource for HR-related projects and initiatives.
  • Other Duties as Assigned

REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Required)
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience working in HR, including experience developing policies and providing manager training

  • Ability to present on various topics to employees and managers.
  • Excellent communication, both written and oral.
  • Ability to build relationships and interact effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Ability to evaluate issues as they arise and effectively problem solve.
  • Demonstrated political acumen, tact, diplomacy and highest level of discretion and confidentiality in employee matters.
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws pertaining to personnel administration.
  • Understanding of academic environment, preferred.
