Tyler Bloom Consulting is Hiring an Equipment Operator Near Swainton, NJ

Union League National Golf Club located in Cape May, NJ is seeking Team Members on the Golf Course Management team. We offer diverse employment pathways depending on your experiences, skill sets and backgrounds. Whether you come with little or a lot of experience, we will be able to develop you within our growing company. 

Schedule: We offer flexible scheduling in our operating hours of 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 

  • 5:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
  • 5:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

In addition, the club will offer Apprenticeship opportunities for those looking to develop a career in the golf course maintenance industry.
Characteristics of ideal candidates: 

  • Self-motivated and able to demonstrate a sense of urgency
  • Capable of following detailed instructions - written and verbal
  • Willing to work in varying climatic conditions including rainy, cold and hot weather
  • Punctual and have reliable transportation
  • Able to complete a criminal background and drug screening

Compensation - $15.00 - $19.00

Hours of Operation: 5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., your desired schedule will be considered

Up to 5 hour shifts, 6 days per week to total 30 hours per week

Seasonal employment March 22nd-November 21st with great opportunity for advancement into full-time

Work holidays as needed, most holidays are paid 1.5x hourly rate

1 weekend morning (Saturday or Sunday) per week or every other weekend.

Job requirements

Perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors.

Job Tasks 

  1. Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides.

  2. Edges, rakes and maintains sand bunkers.

  3. Edges cart paths.

  4. Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily; replaces flags when needed; removes debris; sands and seeds tee and drop area divots; and cleans flower beds.

  5. Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.

  6. Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.

  7. Waters and fertilizes tees, greens and fairways, and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas.

  8. Under the direction of the superintendent or assistant superintendent, the groundskeeper marks the course for cart control weekly; moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs.

  9. Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds tees, greens and fairways.

  10. May be asked to operate mowers, dump trucks or other light equipment.

  11. Operates all equipment in a safe, efficient manner.

  12. Assists with snow removal.

  13. Conducts other appropriate tasks assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent.
