Position Summary

The Full Time Instructor will be responsible for delivering small-group classes and one-on-one tutoring instruction in both in-person and online formats for middle and high schoolers.

The ideal candidate has experience teaching both math and ELA test prep and will bring their inexhaustible energy and positive disposition into both the classroom and the office.

During non-peak instructional hours, the candidate will help develop and deploy ELA academic content.

Responsibilities

Some of this role’s primary responsibilities are listed below:

• Implement Tutorverse test prep math and ELA curricula for middle and high school students in after-school and weekend classes throughout Manhattan locations (in-person) and online (remote).
• Provide one-on-one tutoring to students in similar content areas throughout Manhattan locations and online.
• Assist with the development and deployment of academic content (ELA expertise required)
• Build and maintain effective working relationships and rapport with parents, students, staff, and partners, maintaining a focus on client service.

Minimum Qualifications

Interested? Awesome! We’re looking for someone who possesses:

• 2 years’ experience teaching in both in-person and online classroom settings;
• 2 years’ previous experience teaching the SHSAT, ISEE, and/or SAT;
• at least a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, preferably in education or related field;
• subject-matter expertise in elementary, middle, and high school ELA, including knowledge of grade-level standards;
• intermediate-level proficiency in MS Office and Google Workspace;
• minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute;
• proven verbal and written communication skills, including a thorough command of the English language;
• compliance with required COVID-19 vaccination policies

Preferred Qualifications

Extra credit for someone who has:

• 5 years’ experience teaching in both in-person and online classroom settings;
• administrative experience managing classroom rosters, student information and data, and liaising with parents, students, and partners;
• demonstrable project management skills and commitment to quality and timeliness;
• ELA item development for standardized exams;
• unexpired NYS teaching certification;
• unexpired NYC DOE/DOH fingerprinting and authorization
