Reports to:Shop Foreman, Superintendent, and Trades Manager 

Position Description:

Responsible for performing fitting techniques on various types of metal pipe being fabricated or erected in place on an active construction project or within a fabrication shop or industrial plant

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Clean, bevel, prepare and install pipe with various fittings and weld joints on piping systems.
  • Cut, thread, and install screwed piping systems, and prepare and fit welded piping in place.
  • Lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and test piping systems for industrial processing systems and identify any obstructions or impediments.
  • Select type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications and drawings.
  • Test pipe installation, bend pipe, and install valves, traps or strainers.
  • Perform layout, rigging and transportation of pipe, valves and fittings.
  • Perform craft related math
  • Operate equipment and tools such pipe cutters, port-a-band saw, cutting torch, hammer and chisel, threading machine, and pipe cutting machine as well as forklifts and aerial lifts.
  • Assist with the overall site safety and quality programs as required and ensuring Trade employees/subcontractors compliance with Turner standards and all applicable safety codes, regulations, and jobsite security
  • Maintain positive working relationships with customers, contractors, suppliers and other employees
  • Ability to travel and accommodate night and weekend work as needed
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Display a high level of teamwork, integrity, commitment, and leadership in daily operations.
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Qualifications:

    • Minimum of three (3) years of pipefitting experience
    • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
    • Strong math skills are required.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills are required.
    • Must be able to comprehend safety instructions and signage, communicate effectively in emergency situations and understand written safety instructions from tool and equipment manufacturers
    • Valid Driver’s License preferred
