Title: Human Resources Associate 

Location: Washington, D.C.Salary: Competitive salary and benefits package based on qualifications; classified as full-time salaried; exempt and not eligible for overtime.Reports to: Danielle Novak, Human Resources Manager

Position Overview We are looking for a Human Resources Associate to be the supportive force that empowers our senior leadership. The ideal person for the job will be a proactive problem solver with exceptional communication skills and a meticulous attention to detail. This person will have previous experience working in an office environment, performing HR administrative duties and providing support to management. Our ideal candidate maintains confidences related to high-level systems and operations.

Core Responsibilities

Human Resources Information Systems/Benefits 

  • Helps maintain internal HRIS system and operations. Prepares and analyzes reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the department and company. Prepares periodic reports for management, as requested.
  • Fully utilizes Human Resources HRIS system to the company’s advantage with a high level of confidentiality.
  • Benefits: Participates in the scheduling of the open enrollment process for employees, administers 401(k) plan and medical benefits when employees become eligible, recommends changes in benefits offered periodically. 

Recruiting/Onboarding/Employee Relations

  • Works closely with the HR Manager on talent acquisition, onboarding, and retention, which includes screening and interviewing candidates, scheduling, and managing the onboarding process - creating orientation schedules, facilitating new hire paperwork, technology needs, etc. 
  • Leads team events and culture building activities for the company.
  • Assists with the development of Human Resources policies for the company with regard to employee relations.
  • Partners with management to communicate company policies, procedures, programs, and laws.
  • Recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
  • Participates in the conduct of investigations when employee complaints or concerns are brought forth.
    • Assists in the company annual review process with schedule coordination. 
  • Advises managers and supervisors about the steps in the progressive discipline system of the company. Counsels managers on employment issues.

Development of the Human Resources Department

  • Assists with the development and administration of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
  • Participates in developing department goals, objectives, and systems.
  • Assists to establish departmental measurements that support the accomplishment of the company’s strategic goals.
  • Miscellaneous HR projects as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • At least 2 years of relative experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or equivalent work experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

  • Experience in the administration of benefits and other Human Resources programs/HRIS management and record keeping 
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality
  • Problem-solver with a proactive nature
  • Flexible and adaptable with ability to build solid relationships with teammates

  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills with effective oral and written communication
