WHO WE ARE
Truth Initiative® is America’s largest non-profit public health organization dedicated to making tobacco use a thing of the past. We speak, seek and spread the truth about tobacco through education, tobacco-control research and policy studies, community activism and engagement, and innovation in tobacco dependence treatment. We are a diverse and inclusive organization.
The Innovations Center at Truth Initiative designs, builds, evaluates, and markets leading digital solutions to help people of all ages live tobacco free. The EX Program® is Truth Initiative’s enterprise-level digital tobacco cessation program designed for employers, health systems, and health plans. Developed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic, the EX Program is designed for tobacco users across the motivational continuum. It supports users through multiple, integrated modalities which include a website with an online social network, dynamically tailored text messaging fully integrated with the website, email, synchronous live chat digital coaching, and pharmacotherapy decision support and delivery. Most employers subsidize nicotine replacement therapy which is ordered during a live chat coaching session.
Live chat coaching adapts the treatment model of the Mayo Clinic Nicotine Dependence Center for synchronous digital delivery using a coaching framework. This framework positions the tobacco user as expert and fosters a dynamic collaboration between the coach and tobacco user. Coaches are expected to:
Motivational interviewing is at the center of this approach. EX Program coaches develop tailored plans for each tobacco user that consist of cognitive and behavioral strategies and pharmacological treatment. Coaches assess tobacco use and dependence to recommend the type and dosing of NRT based upon Mayo Clinic Guidelines. The coach also provides education for safe and appropriate use of NRT.
Truth Initiative is seeking a part-time (10 hours/week @ $17.50/hr) Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) to provide digital tobacco cessation coaching as part of the EX Program. You will join a team of 6 coaches staffed by Truth Initiative and Mayo Clinic. Our dedication to promoting diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion is paramount. We know that tobacco use disproportionately affects people of color, people from working class backgrounds, and LGBTQ people. We believe these communities must be centered in the work we do, and want all tobacco users to feel safe, included, and represented in our quitting programs.
