Trust Automation is Hiring a Test Technician Near San Luis Obispo, CA

Trust Automation, a company well-rooted in San Luis Obispo for the last 30 years with a start-up vibe is looking for a Manufacturing Test Technician to add to our team of engineers, technicians and professionals. Trust Automation, designs, engineers, manufactures and supports control and power management systems for the most demanding defense, semiconductor, and industrial automation technologies. We are looking for skilled test technicians who can follow work instructions and use a variety of test fixtures and related tooling. The Manufacturing Test Technician will be detail oriented, energetic, and motivated by team success while exceeding quality expectations and performing work safely.

You will contribute to Trust Automation's success with hands-on testing of the quality products which Trust Automation is known for using AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.

What You Will Do:

Besides playing an integral part to Trust Automation's growth and success, you will test technical products using copy exact practices. Success in this position will be achieved through attention to detail, safety, organization and the ability to exceed quality and on-time delivery goals. 

You will be challenged with activities which include:

  • Accurately and efficiently testing a variety of moderate to semi-complex products by following work instructions and utilizing mechanical skills, hand and power tools, mechanical/electronic tools, test equipment, assembly fixtures and inspection equipment in a manufacturing environment. 
  • Performing automated, semi-automated, and manual test methods while accurately interpreting results
  • Maintaining a safe, organized, clean and foreign object damage (FOD) free work area.
  • Ensuring all equipment is calibrated in accordance with calibration schedule.
  • Actively contributing to lean initiatives to increase productivity and reduce costs.
  • Recording time worked and other data into an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Interfacing with manufacturing engineering and quality control to relay product problems and progress of work.
  • Performing assembly tasks as required.
  • Serving as a resource to other team members and assist in training efforts.

What You Need For This Position:

  • High School Diploma, GED or strong testing skills which are directly transferable to manufacturing.
  • Proven record of success in hands-on assembly or test in a manufacturing environment.
  • Troubleshooting skills at PCB level preferred.
  • Excellent technical aptitude, written and oral communication skills, and the ability to prioritize and deal effectively with people at all levels.
  • Intermediate use of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new procedures, techniques and processes.
  • The ability to read and understand manufacturing work instructions.
  • Coursework in electronics, manufacturing, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Class Characteristics:

  • Manufacturing Test Technician 1 is the entry-level into the manufacturing test technician career series. Initially, under close supervision, technicians with basic assembly and test skills learn Trust Automation's practices and procedures. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.
  • Manufacturing Test Technician 2 is the mid-range of the career series with 1-5 years of experience. Manufacturing Test Technician 2's have demonstrated they have gained the knowledge, skill and experience to work under limited supervision.
  • Manufacturing Test Technician 3 is the most experienced level in the career series with a minimum of 5 years of experience. Manufacturing Test Technician 3's are self-directed and operate with a high level of independence and decision making.
