Position Summary:

As the Accounts Payable (AP) Specialist, you will be a key member of the Trupanion Finance team, supporting the organization in providing excellent customer experience to both policy holders and employees. We are looking for a hardworking individual with both attention to detail and focus on internal and external customer service. The AP Specialist will act as a primary liaison between Finance and member-facing departments, as well as coordinate other critical finance team functions on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. As an entry-level position, this is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a variety of accounting areas as well as experience in establishing processes and controls for a rapidly growing, public company!

Candidates for this position have the option to work remotely from anywhere in the Seattle area, with 1-day per week required in office out of our Seattle headquarters (in the Georgetown neighborhood). 

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Processing of AP payment runs
• Invoice workflow support – receipt of invoice to coding/routing for approval
• Expense reporting support - account coding and vendor support
• Reporting and data entry
• Provide cash forecasting to Treasury for upcoming AP batch runs
• Inquiries from others in the organization relating to payments and coding
• Follow internal controls for job duties according to SOX narratives
• Use accounting principles and experience to assist team in monthly close
• Support broader Finance team for internal and external reporting requests as needed
• Drive operational improvements in accounts payable functions
• Communicate effectively within finance team and throughout the organization for matters relating to role and responsibilities

Qualifications:

Experience:

• 1-2 years of experience in a related field (accounting, finance, business, etc)
• Public company experience a plus

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains or Workday/Ascend AP preferred, but not required
• Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail are a must
• Proven track record of thinking critically and tackling problems in the workplace
• Strong written and verbal communication proven throughout all levels of the organization
• Capable of researching issues independently
• Engaged by a fast-paced, dynamic environment with opportunities for constant learning and growth

Education, Registration & Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or Finance preferred, equivalent experience accepted
