Description
Truman Center for National Policy and Truman National Security Project seeks a Development Manager to partner with the VP of Development in implementation of a sustainable development program that will broaden Truman’s base of philanthropic support, from individuals and corporate and foundation partners. In this newly created role on our growing team, the Development Manager will hold a personal portfolio across all three revenue streams and is responsible for identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship in and out of that portfolio.
The Development team will raise $5m in 2023 with a strategic plan in place to grow to $8m in 2025. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, 2-to-3-year development professional who can be a key component of that growth and is looking for an opportunity to have an enormous impact on Truman’s success.
They will quickly craft and implement engagement, solicitation, and stewardship communications for the existing Truman prospect base as well as leverage relationships with members of the Advisory Council, Corporate Council, event sponsors, annual fund and foundation donors to align giving with capacity and uncover and close new prospects.
The ideal candidate will have experience moving prospects through all moves management stages of the development lifecycle, and be comfortable with a large number of prospects in need of qualification and cultivation. They will quickly synthesize information and disseminate it to Truman’s development audiences. The Development Manager will work closely with the VP of Development to implement best practices and integrate a culture of philanthropy across the organization and throughout the membership.
This position works with staff at both the Truman Center for National Policy, a 501(c)(3) organization, and the Truman National Security Project, a 501(c)(4) organization, to make the case for supporting Truman policy, programs and membership; conduct ongoing research to identify funding opportunities; collaborate on strategies for approaching prospects; supporting and making 5-to-6-figure asks; and systematically track all activity and deadlines.

Preferred Competencies and Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree is required for this position as is at least 2-3 years of fundraising experience in front-line development at a non-profit, campaign, or advocacy organization(s).

Compensation:
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience. Competitive benefits.
