Truman Center for National Policy is Hiring a Development Coordinator Near Washington, DC

Description

Truman Center for National Policy and Truman National Security Project seeks a Development Coordinator to support the VP of Development and Development Manager in implementation of a sustainable development program that will broaden Truman’s base of philanthropic support, from individuals and corporate and foundation partners.

The Development team will raise $5m in 2023 with a strategic plan in place to grow to $8m in 2025. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, early-career professional who can be a key component of that growth and is looking to support Truman’s success.

They will support the team to quickly craft and implement engagement, solicitation, and stewardship communications for the existing Truman prospect base, including producing distribution lists, managing mass email sends, managing calendars, running reports, etc. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience drafting communications including memos, emails, newsletters, etc. They will quickly synthesize information and disseminate it to Truman’s development audiences. The Development Coordinator will work closely with the rest of the team to implement best practices and integrate a culture of philanthropy across the organization and throughout the membership.

This position works with staff at both the Truman Center for National Policy, a 501(c)(3) organization, and the Truman National Security Project, a 501(c)(4) organization, to support the case for funding Truman policy, programs and membership; periodically conduct ongoing research to identify funding opportunities; and systematically track all activity and deadlines.

The Truman Center for National Policy is an independent, nonpartisan research and policy institute that envisions an inclusive US foreign policy that makes American lives better because it advances democracy, human rights, prosperity, and security at home and abroad.

Its sister-organization, the Truman National Security Project, is a vibrant, diverse, nationwide membership community of leaders leveraging the power of the Truman network to develop smart national security solutions that reinforce strong, just, and effective American global leadership. As progressive organizations, TCNP and TNSP offer timely, principled, and innovative solutions to pressing national security challenges with the belief that how we conduct ourselves in international engagement matters, and that our effectiveness abroad depends on the choices we make at home.

From the Vice President of Development: I am looking for a colleague who is passionate about supporting a team working for an inclusive US foreign policy that makes American lives better. If you are an early-career professional who loves details, project management, and deadlines, this could be your perfect fit. Even better if you want to forge a career path in fundraising and learn the ropes from the ground up!

If you are ready to support a growing, passionate, fundraising team who loves what we do, now is the time to join Truman’s development department. We are at an inflection point of new strategy, high ambition, and enormous opportunity to achieve aggressive revenue goals. If that inspires you to be a part of what we’re building, you’re the person we need!

Join a team of people who truly like and root for each other, who support and celebrate each other’s diversity, both personally and professionally. Apply today!

–Amy Serafino, Vice President of Development

Truman’s Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice: Truman Center for National Policy and Truman National Security Project are leaders in the movement to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice (DEIJ) as national security imperatives. In consultation with our Boards of Directors, Truman members, and a wide range of stakeholders, Truman continues to make strides toward creating a more just and equal world. Expanding the diversity of Americans who contribute to every level of the U.S. national security and foreign policy community not only enhances our nation’s security, but also strengthens U.S. global leadership and moral authority. American foreign policy is strongest when a variety of thoughts and perspectives are reflected in our domestic policies and foreign affairs.

Studies have shown that women, nonbinary folks, and People of Color are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every single qualification in a job description. We are committed to building a diverse and inclusive organization and we are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job. That candidate may come from a background less traditional to our field of work, and that’s okay. We strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don’t believe you meet every one of the qualifications described. But be certain to include a thoughtful cover letter with your application. No candidate will not be considered without one.
