True Sky Federal Credit Union is Hiring a Director of Internal Audit Near Oklahoma City, OK

Role:

To provide the Board of Directors and Supervisory Committee reasonable assurance that management and staff of the credit union are carrying out their directives, and that the system of accounting, internal and administrative controls are working. The position is unique in that the internal auditor works for the supervisory committee to fulfill their duties but also functionally reports to the SVP/CAO.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Conduct financial, operational, internal control & compliance audits.

Coordinate special audits as required by law and assist with annual external audit.

Brief and report audit results to the Supervisory Committee, Management and, the Board of Directors if requested

Develop an internal and external annual audit plan & write audit procedures.

Implement strategy to combat and mitgate fraud risk.

Develop and present audit and/or compliance training to management and employees, as required or needed.

Performance Measurements:

1.

Test the accuracy and reliability of information produced by the credit union.

2.

Identify problems where there are insufficient internal controls and noncompliance with policies and regulations. Determine the effectiveness of the internal control structure.

3.

Identify operational and material weaknesses and determine that credit union assets are safeguarded.

4.

Review and test compliance with internal policies and procedures as well as external laws and regulations.

5.

To stay current and comply with all federal and state regulations including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Office of Foreign Assets & Controls (OFAC) in addition to all credit union policies and procedures.

6.

Meet or Exceed the Service Expectations for True Sky CU.

7.

Manage audit staff completing reviews in a timely manner and coaching on a monthly basis.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience

Five years to eight years of similar or related experience.

Education

Four year college degree from an accredited College or University in Accounting, Finance and/or a Business degree or a similiar degree area preferred and a professional certificate or a graduate degree.

Interpersonal Skills

The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills are critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting departments or divisions. The person in this position should maintain independence so that their opinions, findings, conclusions, judgments, and recommendations will be impartial and viewed as impartial by reasonable and informed third parties.

Other Skills

Overall knowledge of all functions and services of the Credit Union and experience with operational audits. A working knowledge of all laws and regulations for financial institutions, strong computer skills, ability to work independently and be a self starter, certification designation preferred, ie Certified Internal Auditor, (CIA) Certified Bank Auditor, (CBA), and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) etc. Experience with audit techniques required by generally accepted audit standards, including general, fieldwork, and reporting standards. Experience working with NCUA Examiners and Auditors
