Regular ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The Technical Writer works with Engineers, Analysts, and SMEs to collect and organize information required for preparation of a broad range of technical reports, correspondence, and presentations. Edits and proofreads technical information for use in documents and briefings. Ensures technical reports, correspondence, and briefings use clear, concise, and well-organized language in accordance with DoD guidelines. Analyze documents to maintain continuity of message; explain scientific and technical ideas in simple language. Write technical direction on product announcements, marketing brochures, advertisements, and technical specifications; edit articles for industry publication; and format documentation to ensure consistency within the program office. On a daily basis the technical writer will assist in the development of briefings, papers, schedules, etc. to provide the government customer a detailed understanding of status, plans and technical approaches to various laser systems. The technical writer will interface directly with the government and contractor team engineers and management SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable): This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: QUALIFICATIONS: REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Extensive experience with Army correspondence (AR 25-50 Preparing and Managing Correspondence) and technical writing 10 years of related experience, preferably in the DoD or Defense industry Bachelor’s Degree Security Clearance: Active Secret clearance Excellent written and verbal communication skills Very strong / above average / attention to detail Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking Highly proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to develop final presentations, report graphics, and animations or video Experience with joint staff, joint programs, and interfacing with DoD leadership Experience supporting engineering programs and Technical Program Managers This position may require a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief as required by federal, state, provincial or local mandates or customer requirements.
